Gaining su rights in Konqueror and KWrite

Hi all.
I'm using Linux for a few months now, so I'm gaining hang of it, but one thing I wasn't able to do, is tp gain su rights for Konqueror.
As the security handbook says, I restrict of fully loging on as root, and gain the su rights only when needed. My probem is, that when I log on as my non-root user, I can't open some folders and files via my Konqueror file browser and KWrite file editor.
Is there a way to open these files and folders without having to have to log on as root?
THX

Somewhere in the KDE menu, (system I think) you can select
"file manager - super user mode".
When it opens, (you'll be promted for password) select:

Go > Home URL

As for Kwrite, open a term, su, password, then type kwrite.
Or you can select "run command" from the menu, select options,
then "run as a different user", and so on.
