Free CAD program to run under Linux?

I'm after a free CAD program to run under Linux so i can get rid of Windows partition on my drive.

It's for uni work, so it would be handy if it could export as AutoCAD's propriatry *.dwg format, but this is not essential.

I don't need any 3D capability whatsoever.

Any ideas?

I have been recommended QCAD in the past, but they seem to have stopped doing the software. And, if i remember correctly, it was commercial without even a trial.

Cheers in advance!

Qcad still seems to be around. It's listed at $28 on the homepage. The demo isn't very useful as it only runs for 10 min at a time. I think it allows saving. The full functioning version was included on my Suse 9.2 disk. Nice little program for 2d work.

I'm sure you have already run across this http://www.tech-edv.co.at/lunix/CADlinks.html
and this http://www.linuxrsp.ru/win-lin-soft/table-eng.html#9
Some of the commercial programs are available for 30 day trials

Maybe check sourceforge? Some cad on that site but no idea about the quality.

EDIT/ I've seen qcad on knoppix. It seems there is a pro version and a community version. It's GPL so this makes sense. Search for a mandriva rpm. If that fails go to Qcad homepage.
