This type of question is really up to the user. I mean if you want it to be organized well and be a neat freak with where all your files are at ( like myself ) then just create a folder for them in your /home directory.. or anyplace else that might be logical to you to place them..
Me personally, when I install a workstation install, I always create myself a /data partition where I place all my other misc files and such..
