Question Flex and yaac problem

Hello,

I'm trying to install libpcap on my machine (RH7.3) but when I tried to "make" the program it said that:

configure: error: Your operating system's lex is insufficient to compile
libpcap. flex is a lex replacement that has many advantages, including
being able to compile libpcap. For more information, see
http://www.gnu.org/software/flex/flex.html .

Then I downloaded flex and got an error when I tried to "make" that program, it read as follows:

yacc -d ./parse.y
make: execvp: yacc: Permission denied
make: *** [parse.c] Error 127

Any idea how to fix this?

Thanks,
Ilektro

Do you have yacc installed? It's giving a permissions denied error. What are the permissions on the yacc file? But if you are going to be using flex you should really be using bison along with it. Bison and flex are the replacements of yacc and lex.

Mik,

In order to use libpcap it seems as though it requies flex and yaac. If I install bison and flex will libpcap be a be able to use those instead? Also, where can I get yaac/bison? I've searched a bit and haven't found where to get it.

Thanks,
Ilektro
