Question First time EVER installation, PLZ HELP!!

This is my first EVER venture into the Linux world. I just got a CD for Red Hat Linux 7.0.

I have two hard drives, the first one is 10 GB containing the ubiquitous windows 98...
the second hard drive is 6GB and partitioned into 4GB and 2GB.

I pop in the CD, I went for text mode, and was happily answering the questions when I came to this screen:

Mount Point:____________________
Size(Megs):
Use Remaining SPace []
Type --> Linux Swap
Native
RAID
DOS 16bit<32M
DOS 16bit>=32M

Allowable drives[*]hda[*]hdc

I want Linux to be installed on my 2nd hard drive on the 4GB partition. This screen just stopped me where I was.

Any help on this would definitely put me closer than where I am right now.

Thanks.

use graphic mode installation, easier to maneuvre around.

BTW,
you can delete one of your partitions to free it,
then choose to install on free space and let linux to configure
it automatically.

I'd go with futurist on this one, but maybe take it one step further if you're not planning on using the drive for anything but Linux:

You'll be better off in the long run if you had all 6G of the second drive, so I'd wipe both existing partitions and, during the install, create one swap partition and one / (root) partition. If you have 128M or more of physical RAM, a 128M swap should be fine. More than 256M of swap would be overkill for a basic desktop system (a heavy-duty server is another story though). Use the rest of the space for the root partition.

OK! I did it.

I didn't go with the entire 6GB... I'm only using 4GB: 160MB for swap, 16MB for boot and 2gb for the root.

I have another question.

Now that I've done it, all installed....erm...
how do I use it? I chose no LILO or the other thing, so now Linux is there, but I can't exactly get to it. I have a utility here... LOADLIN. That would load linux from within windows, although I haven't made the changes required to the linux.bat file.

another question: Is it possible to change the size of that /root partition at a later time

I hope I don't sound like a complete doofus here. It's my first time, and I hope these questions are bearable. Because I'll be back with lots more. Is that OK with u guys?
