Firefox troubles with Java (RANT)

OK so I've already found the solution. But MY GOD! Why the HELL did the mozilla guys have to go and change the basics. I have an older system. But I keep it up to date by manually updating a few packages. LibreOffice, GNUcash Java Firefox and Thunderbird. So I started using Firefox 5. Never did notice that java wasn't working until a recent reinstall. When I tested it I could not get it working. But since I had the original 3.5 installed but backed up (named the firefox dir to firefox~) I put it back and lo java worked again. So again tried to enable the Firefox 5 firefox directory in /usr/lib again no go. I could see the original libjava.so plugin was in the /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins directory. But after some diggin I found I needed to link to the libnpjp2.so file instead. Now NOWHERE on the mozilla site did I see these instructions. I've seen some mentions here and there on here but online I could only find one other obscure reference. What is the reason for this, another change to something that just worked before?

OK so I did some digging. it can be found on the Oracle site. Guess it wasn't mozilla after all. Oracle instead. Can't they leave well enough alone. I knew them buying sun was gonna make a mess.
