Firefox keeps crashing

For quite some time now, firefox has been crashing randomly. At first I thought it was the flash plugin, which was actually part of the program, but then I renamed the whole .mozilla/firefox directory, thus causing it to start fresh with no plugins or extensions. Firefox continued to crash, and in fact, now it seems worse. Now it will crash normally within about 2 minutes of having been started, and it will crash even if I don't do anything. If I just start it and leave it on the firefox start page, it will crash.

If I run it from the command line, I get this error when it crashes:
Code:
firefox-bin: Fatal IO error 14 (Bad address) on X server:0.0.
I am using X.org version 1.4.0.90.

Please tell me there's a solution, because this is driving me *Bleep*ing crazy.

I ended up doing a clean install of slack 13 and the issue is now resolved, so I couldn't tell you.

Well . . . As I said in the above post, I did a clean install of slackware 13, which comes with firefox pre-installed. Again, I'm having problems with it randomly crashing. Most recently I had 2 tabs open, gmail, and simplyhired.com, and it crashed. Just shut down in a fraction of a second, and didn't even bring up the (sorry I crashed) window. When I restarted it, I restored my tabs, and again, BAM! WHY!?! WHY?! This is so *** d**n f***ing aggravating! I can't get anything done.

[EDIT 3/1/10 12:38] Pidgin has begun crashing in the same fashion. This seems to be turning into a universal problem.

Is there any kind of log file I can check? How can I find out what's causing this and how to fix it?

Thanks,
-Primux
