Firefox 2.0 will not connect to internet

I have an issue with firefox. I have been running Suse 10 for a month and a Half. My Suse Dvd came with Firefox in with the package. I could not get Firefox to connect to the internet. So I have been using Konqueror. I downloaded Firefox 2.0 terribly messed up a couple of times trying to install it but I finally got it.

Now, Firefox will not connect to internet just like the old version. Whenever I pull it up it takes forever to give me this message:

The connection has timed out
The server at en-us.start.mozilla.com is taking too long to respond.

Then I get the exact same message but with different sites, with every address I try to go to.

I know my internet is working because I am surfing with Konqueror at the same time I am trying to get firefox to work.

Can any one help me please?

I had a similar thing happen to me when I first installed Suse, though it seemed to fix itself when I did a system update. If you've been using it for a month and a half you've probably done this, but I figured it would be worth suggesting.

might be wrong here but I remember reading a post about a bug that sounds similiar to your problem. Have you backstepped to one older version of firefox and try that. If that doesn't work remove firefox and try a re-install.

Hi there

Type about:config in Firefox address bar. Scroll down the options until you find:

network.dns.disableIPv6 this is set to 'False'

right click on the above and toggle the value to 'true'

Now try.
