finding out your home router's ip address using lynx

Hi,

I have a Netgear Router - connected to a DSL Modem, this router only displays the ip address (given by the ISP) in a website. The access the website is authenticanted.

The idea is this :

Logon to the router's webpage, dump the page and with PHP or perl extract the ip adress. Then, send the ip address to an external page or email for others to access the server.

The problem :

I am trying lynx as follows :

lynx -auth=\ 'adminasswd' http://192.168.1.1/status.htm

Making HTTP connection to netg
Sending HTTP request.
HTTP request sent; waiting for response.
Alert!: Access without authorization denied -- retrying
Retrying with access authorization information.

If I remore the single quote:

lynx -auth=adminasswd http://192.168.1.1/status.htm
Server Busy

The object you requested on the server is being used by someone else.
Please try again later.

Any ideas would benefit many people.

Thanks !!

I'm not sure about your problems but another solution is to use:
lynx -dump http://www.whatismyip.com | grep "Your IP" | cut -d" " -f4

Or even easier - why not sign up for a dynamic dns service like http://www.no-ip.com
