Fedora Core 2 is in legacy support mode, so you might want to visit the Fedora Legacy web site to get the latest updates (if needed) first;

http://www.fedoralegacy.org/

It is impossible to say one way or the other if your sound sevice is supported or not with FC2, you have not told us which one you have. Try checking (and maybe posting) the output from the console or xterm session the command;

lspci -v

Also visit the ALSA homepage for help getting the sound device configured;

This is your (hopefully) sound device;

00:1b.0 Class 0403: Intel Corp. I/O Controller Hub Audio (rev 03)
Subsystem: Intel Corp.: Unknown device e213
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 11
Memory at ffac0000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable)
Capabilities: [50] Power Management version 2
Capabilities: [60] Message Signalled Interrupts: 64bit+ Queue=0/0 Enable-
Capabilities: [70] #10 [0091]

Which requires a 2.6.12 or better kernel and alsa 1.09 or better. Since you state that your using FC2 your choices are to build your own kernal and install the latest alsa, or update to something a bit more modern like FC4/5.
