Exclamation Fedora Core 1 SMB Printing Auth Problem

Hello to all,

I recently set up Fedora Core 1 and was very happy, until I needed to print something. I clicked on the Print Manager icon (which appears in the gnome panel by default), and ran the printer configuration wizard. Everything was fine, I selected network que type: Networked Windows (SMB), and the computer sharing the printer was listed. I click the arrow next to it to expand the tree and reveal the shared printer (LaserJet). I selected it and pressed foward. then the authentication dialog poped-up.

This is where the problem is:

I entered the following details and when i pressed ok, the dialog just disappeared for a second then came back with no errors, just the same details i entered:

Workgroup: DJUROVICH
Server: P1700
Share: LaserJet
User name: administrator
Password: (THE ADMINISTRATOR PASSWORD HERE)

i have found an errata post:
bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=88021

this person had the same problem when going from rhl 8 to 9.
i have just gone from rh8 to fc1.

the computer sharing the printer (HP LaserJet 1000) is running windows xp pro.

my computer has all the latest updates to samba and redhat-printer-config (which i thought might solve the problem but hasnt).

Help on this would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Same Problem - did you resolve?

I am having the same problem - so far I haven't been able to get around it, and was wondering if you ever got a resolution? Thanks.

No I have not been able to resolve this problem
Hopefully if it is something to do with Fedora then the issue will be fixed in the release of core 2.
I tested core 2 test 2 and the problem is still there, so I am guessing it is a permissions problem within windows sharing the printer.
Hopefully someone with great knowledge of both windows and linux will read this post and give a helping hand.
Please help - anyone!

I cannot print using FC2, and the instruction from everywhere who said that they success cannot do it here.

I success upload the firmware, but still cannot test print.
