FC19: What file managers can open folders in separate windows?
Hello,
I've got quite used to Nautilus opening folders
in separate windows when I was running FC17+KDE.
Now, after upgrading to FC19 (still with KDE)
I discovered that the "open in separate windows"
feature had been removed (also "per forlder" view
configuration seemed to go: changing "view" of one
folder changes the default view for all).
I searched for various file managers but it's hard
to understand from their short features list
if they have or don't have the "open in separate windows"
feature. I have Dolphin installed so I could run
it to check it doesn't have that feature.
Does anyone knows of file managers capable of opening
each folder in a new window (and preferable with
"per folder" view configuration ability)?
More about Nautilus: I attempted to search in its docs
to see where and in what format its configuration
files are but the docs of it seem rather outdated:
on fedoraproject.org the Nautilus docs are from FC14
release.
thanks for the reply.
I couldn't install "thunar" using "yum",
I guess it would require messing with repositories.
Bus after switching from Nautilus to Dolphin
(after discovering few more Nautilus defficiencies, like
scroll wheel not working in folder viewed as "details"
and its inability to keep separate view configurations per folder)
I discovered that Dolphin actually has the "Open in separate window"
capability: through the RMB menu. Pity I can't set it as a default
behavior but at least the option exists.
Thanks for the reply, sorry for my late response (home issues),
kaza.

Rep:
# 3 .
$ yum provides */Thunar
... The reply is : Thunar-1.6.3-1.fc19**
Installing Thunar : # yum install Thunar
P.S. : May be you can also use 'konqueror' :
# yum install konqueror
* And then create a launcher that uses konqueror as file manager:
The start command is : konqueror $HOME
