facing Problem in FTP/HTTP installation

hello all

i am new to linux, but still very eager to learn more,

here is my problem...

i want to install linux through networking..

i got success in NFS installation, by exporting a directory and putting iso of linux on server side, but facing problem with FTP and HTTP installation... as error coming..." IMAGE CAN'T BE RETRIEVED FROM /VAR/FTP/PUB/IMAGES/ ..... "

but i am able to share file through ftp ,so i am not getting why this problem is occuring,

someone told me that, while FTP/HTTP installation iso image is not required , so i extracted the image and put in pub directory in FTP instalation...
Please help me, i tried alot but getting same problem...

please paste here your ftp url you are using.

a common mistake is that ppl do not realise that /var/ftp/pub is a type of docroot and is found by default...so if you file is here..

/var/ftp/pub/file

and your server ip is 1.1.1.1

then your ftp url is

1.1.1.1/file

similar thing with http.
doc root is found by default..

thanks for response....

first of all thanks for response

r u asking abt client side that two option 1. FTP server name 2.Linux server directory ... at the time of installation, if it is, so i am giving , FTP server name as my server ip address, and directory as /pub

but when i am doing same thing on vmware by making one Linux as Server and other as Client its working...

i am following this link for installation guide,

http://www.computernetworkingnotes.c...stallation.htm

please have a look , and suggest me some thing that help me for my RHCE certification , as i am looking forward for that...

thanks & regards
