Extracting files from .bin archive


Is it possible to extract the files from a .bin archive in Ubuntu Edgy like it is in Mac? If it is could someone walk me through it?

you could use bin2iso then mount the iso on the loopback device? (you can find the details for, by searching these forums)

I use winrar & or ISO buster in Windows, so it should be possible with Linux. It appears to be fairly easy according to "Procedure 2-6 To manually install the CMS software on a Linux server:" in this tutorial, take a look at steps 2, 3, 4.

Have not actually tried a .bin, but it is one of around 12 compressed formats that can be extracted with winrar, also .cue, .iso, .zip, etc. It is an image file similar to ISO.
For all we know, you can probably just re-name it with the .iso extension and extract it with an ISO extraction utility. I do strange things like that and they sometimes work, that's what "Hackers" do, things most people would not try.
