Filters perform specified tasks according to specified conditions. They only perform at all when they are applied. Clicking "OK" after you've made a filter only saves the filter settings, it does not apply the filter. Apparently you have managed to get your filters applied automatically to incoming mail, so that your mail is automatically sorted as it is downloaded. My mail though is not sorted automatically because my filters are not being applied automatically. Every time I Send / Receive mail, I must select the new emails and press control-y to apply the filters, and then the filters sort the email into spam and non-spam folders. If I do not press control-y, the filters do nothing, and my emails remain unsorted.
Lol...6 years later and this bug still has not been fixed!
Using Evolution 2.24.2 on Fedora 10 and I have the same problem, except with an Imap Folder. In the Account preferences I selected the option: Apply filters automatically, but nothing happens. I still have to manually select all my messages in my Inbox and then hit 'Apply filters' (CTRL+Y).
That's Linux software for you...guess I will have another 5 years until it works. Really sad.
Well doesn't work for me.
I use IMAP and have "Apply filters to new messages in INBOX on this server" checked,
however filters are not appled to new e-mail.
If I select all messages and then press Ctrl+Y to run the filters manually, everything works fine.
