hey guys, so i am trying to install libwebcam onto ubuntu 8.10 and i keep getting this error message that i cannot figure out. (pretty new to ubuntu still...) here it is:

what is gengetopt? can i just install it with the
sudo apt-get install gengetopt
?

yeah, that seemed to work:
$sudo apt-get install gengetopt

so what is that? i do not exactly understand the command string
apt-get install [name of thing]

it just seems to always solve my problems...

The command # apt-get install gengetopt
downloads the package gengetopt_2.22.1-1_i386.deb
to '/var/cache/apt/archives' and installs it.

The package is fetched from the repository,
please see the details in the file /etc/apt/sources.list .
