Error compiling rrdtool

I don't know where else to ask for help.

When doing configure on rrdtool, I get the following error...

Quote:
configure: error: C++ preprocessor "/lib/cpp" fails sanity check
See `config.log' for more details.
I have the latest versions of gcc and other requirements. Can anyone lead me in the right direction for a fix?

Looks like we're both out of luck. I never did manage to figure out the problem.

approching a solution

I have found a comment on the issue at http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/history/103447 - but it doesn't suggest a solution!

Well, I succeeded by installing gcc-c++. Apparently, there was an issue about not installing c++ with gcc, though the system expected it. I also had to install XFree86, but then my installation went smoothly - at last. I hope that this is of use to you.
