Smile English to English dictionary in ubuntu!

Hey friend

I am a Chinese,I am searching dictionaries for English study.

The only E-dictionary on a computer I know is Stardict.

But it only shows English to Chinese, which means if input my target word into it,it shows the chinese definition in it.But I know If I really want to understand an English word,I shall use English definitions to understand it but not Chinese.

Do any of you have any good idea about what I am confusing?

Supplemental:

I would recommend ... a book ... Websters or Oxford dictionaries.
Probably available second hand.

I also found this, WordWeb, a windows program, running on 'wine'

http://wordweb.info/free/
http://download.cnet.com/WordWeb/300...dlPid=10897446

But may be it is also an online version ?
