embedding evince wi th mozplugger in firefox

I'm trying to use mozplugger to embed evince to view things like pdf's, since evince starts much faster. However, I installed mozplugger, and then tried to open up a pdf. Nothing happened. It didn't open up with acroread which is the default action. I tried setting it to swallow evince on default. Still no joy. I'm a little confused as to what else I have to do.

This is what I get out of firefox when I launch it from a terminal

MozPlugger: Warning: Unknown directive: fill: evince "$file"

which confuses me, since I can definately load a local file by typing evince <filename> in the terminal
