Editing PDF from CLI with shell scripts

Hello everyone!

Long time ago I wrote a bash script that let me print PDF files into new PDF documents with 4 pages per sheet, which is really useful when people toss at you `summarized' material that, once printed, is as much cumbersome as the bibliography they cite.

Unfortunately, I lost it and I can't remember what programs I used in it.

How would you do that job now?

thanks

H.
