ecw files (very big jpg-like images - satelite photos) under linux


I have some .ecw files, and was looking for software to open them. you can open them by ermapper and sth similar, bot none of those things are for linux. anyone got some experience with those? what program did u use to open them?

I came across this mailinglist about ermapper, and it doesnt look too good. Seems they havnt realy published enough info for develpoers to include support for it. Heres the link if you want to read more:
