I want to dual windows and linux on 2 hard drives. Windows is on SATA and Linux on IDE. When I install linux, I disconnect windows disk so that they are independent.
- Booting from windows using method c:\bootsect.lnx and boot.ini just show GRUB and froozen.
- Booting from Linux Grub is not successfull too, using method /etc/grub.conf and chainloader +1 etc..... Linux is Redhat enterpise workstation 3 which originally does not support SATA.
my grub.conf
default=0
timeout=10
splashimage=(hd0,1)/grub/splash.xpm.gz
title Red Hat Linux
root (hd0,1)
kernel /vmlinuz-2.4.7-10 ro root=/dev/hdb2 hdc=ide-scsi
initrd /initrd-2.4.7-10.img
title Windows xp
rootnoverify (hda,0)
chainloader +1
Are there other method?
Another question is my Redhat Enterprise WS 3 enter to power saving mode when I log out. So I have to turn machine off and on again. Irritating.
From windows, when I select linux, it print out
GRUB and froozen, nothing more happen.
From linux, when I select windows, it come back to linux. So Linux is always choosen
even though I select windows.
And what about linux enter to power saving mode when I log out. This problem I have on my another machine with only linux install (not dual boot machine)
