dpkg error parsing file

I was running an updated that crashed - since then I cannot run any updates and my adobe flash plugin is not working.

Here is what I get

user@user-Inspiron-1525:~$ sudo dpkg --configure -a
dpkg: error: parsing file '/var/lib/dpkg/updates/0011' near line 0:
field name `' must be followed by colon

Any idea what to do next ?

Which version of Ubuntu are you using ? ?

.. If it's an alpha or beta version of 12.04, you may have to reinstall
when the real version is released.
Other LQ members have problems with "12.04 updates".
No reliable updates so far, it seems.
