Unhappy Downloading Drupal Permission Denied

When I try to download drupal permission is denied.

Code:
wget http://ftp.drupal.org/files/projects/drupal-7.0.tar.gz
This results in:

The download is OK. You haven't got permissions to save the file in the current working directory, that is /var/www from your prompt. Try to change directory and download again.

You need to be in a directory with permissions to write to

@bodhidarma1 you seem to be in a directory where you don't have write permissions. cd to your home directory and execute the wget once again.

Cheers.
