downloading and updating with ssh

I did a lot of search in here and in google but I couldn't find a proper doc about howto download/ upload files from/to a ssh server

I login into my college ssh server properly but what now??

Hi,

Ssh 'just' gives you a shell on the other machine.

Use scp (or sftp) to upload/download files to/from that server.

Something like:

scp file servername:/path/to/target

man scp (sftp) for details.
