Download files from wiki

Hi all,

How could I make file or image as zip downloadable from wiki site? When I try to download the images it throws the below error.
The requested URL /download/image.zip was not found on this server.
Apache/2.4.10 (Debian) Server at example.site.com Port 80

I don't know if Wikipedia allows you to request documents in zip format. Why don't you download the image in its original format? You can zip the file after you downloaded it, if you must.

You mentioned the error message. What URL did you access to get this message?

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I could not download it any format as it throws an error. I went to some of the wiki links where it says for the exe files we need to zip so that we would be able to download them

The article you linked is explaining that if you intend to upload files to the site in order for other people to download them, you can zip them first. It's not saying that you have to somehow zip them before you can download them.

If a file doesn't already exist as a compressed/zip file wherever you're trying to download it from, you can't do this. That's why you're getting the "not found" error.

If it's your server or you're uploading to someone else's server, you can zip it first then it'll be available there as a .zip.

If it's not, and you're just looking to download an image, then you can download the image and then zip it afterward. There's no magical way to download some file as a .zip just by putting a ".zip" at the end.

Please provide the exact URL (address) for an image or a file that you want to download from Wikipedia (assuming that this is the site you want to download from - there are a large number of wiki-type sites out there).

I'm sorry, maybe it's just me, but it's not really clear what you're trying to do. Can you give an overview of what exactly you're trying to accomplish, along with the info @hydrurga asks for above in post #5?
