Dosbox in framebuffer, keyboard issue

Hi,

I'm trying to run Dosbox in a Linux console (framebuffer), graphics works but there are two issues that I cannot seem to find a solution to:

First of all my keyboard is totally garbled

And secondly after hitting a few keys the system freezes, and I am forced to reboot.

I have been looking around for answers and from what I have read there seems to be some bugs with SDL and keyboard.

One suggestion was to add these lines in /root/.dosbox:
usescancodes=false
keyboardlayout=us

However this does not fix my problem. Any help here would be nice!

(PS! Don't know if it matters but the system i'm running is Slackware 14.0 32-bit)
