Does anyone know of a font browser?

I'm looking for a good tool to browser my font in Linux...both my personal font store and the system fonts. Does anyone know of a good tool for this?

You can use Konq in KDE, just type fonts:/ into the location bar, and double click on a font to get a preview. Theirs also the font picker in KDE, which should always preview your fonts in any KDE program. and the Font Installer, in the control centre, also previews fonts.

Cool. But is there anything which will display them all in a list, rendered in their typeface a screen at a time? Like this: http://members.ozemail.com.au/~scef/...ultisample.gif

Would this be good enough? http://www.leonscape.co.uk/images/snapshots/fonts.png

( I get the large version by simply hovering the mouse over an icon ).

That's absolutely perfect! Thumbnail view in KDE, right? Very cool...I DO like Konqueror! Better than WinExplorer any day of the week.

Another question for you then, since you seem to have a few fonts installed...do you notice any system slowdown having a large number of fonts installed?

I have no system slowdown because of fonts. The system has a cache, so all the font information is available without having to look through everthing.

Plus it only generated when you install a font, so theirs no overhead on the system at start up or anything like that.
