Talking divxPlayer closing right after launch

Hi Folks, hi free people !

Ever experienced divxPlayer (can be grabbed here http://www.divx.com/divx/linux/) promptly closing right after having been launched ?

It then gives you an error message like this one :
/usr/local/bin/divxPlayer: line 6: 6011 Segmentation fault /usr/local/bin/divxPlayer.bin $@

One of the many different ways to settle this issue :
1) go to this directory /home/user_dir/.divxPlayer
2) delete the file DivXPlayer.dbf
3) relaunch the divxPlayer application --> it works !

... any other solution is welcome !

same as elsewhere

... yeah, I just got the same remark on another forum.

I admit ther should be something better than this *£%£$ divxPlayer but I just took a look one min ago to the website you mention.

Seems attractive but seems also to be a real challenge to install it.

Anyway, thx for the advice, sure it was worth it.

if you can't get anything else to work quick,
make a scrip that deletes that file then
runs the player.
like
rm /freaking/file
crappyplayer
