Unhappy distorted java video content fedora linux alsa drivers


i am running fedora core 4 2.6.11-1.1369_FC4 1686 , i am having an issue with my current alsa interface when playing flash / or java videos the sound is distorted im on a latitude 110l and i also loose video if i close the screen plese help , i would give more info but after weeks of looking into this i am stuck at this point

I would back up the important documents and install Fedora Core 5 or 6, plus do a full yum update to get the new alsa libs, among other things.

What's the output of lspci? Try searching the net for updated drivers using the name of the sound hardware reported there.

You may have to turn off power management. In the BIOS screen there is an option to not kill the screen when closed... But the new Fedora seems better at power management.

i appreciate the advice , and i have already updated the drivers , and checked the bios , i also would not use fedora 5 ( seeing that im a Linux user fedora 5 is a disgrace to redhat , and i am ashamed as are they that they released 6 shortly after i am so ashamed of 5 that i haven't brought myself to even attempt top look at 6 but again thank you and im still in search of a solution
