Difficulty playing iPod files in amaroK 1.3.5

So I have an ipod, mounted to /mnt/ipod, and amaroK 1.3.5 seems to read the information on the ipod just fine. All of my artists, albums, and songs are visible under the "Media Device" tab in amaroK, but when I attempt to drag and drop songs into the playlist, the only thing that appears is a seemingly random string of four letters, like "XBXA" or something similar. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem, as it would be nice to be able to play the files on the iPod.

HW details, if it matters:
Dell Inspiron 8500 Laptop
2 GHz processor
512 MB RAM
4th gen iPod (40 GB)

Any ideas?
