diff bt i586 and src


what is the difference between i586 and src?

i586 refers to a type of processor architecture. Specifically, it's trying to say a package/file/whatever was designed or compiled for that type of processor. Anytime you see an iX86, that's referring to the family of Intel processors (and AMD).

A package or file with src in the name is saying the file contains source code. Source code is (to a certain extent) architecture independent. You compile the software on your own, and you machine creates the software to run for your particular processor.
