I have heard somewhere that to connect to internet thru roadrunner all i have to do is start DHCPD service. Gnome net configuration is confusing. Is there any other places and conf files where I can manually modify something, or to find if the DHCPD is already installed, etc. Please help, you can guess I'm learning networking in linux. Thanks.
DHCPD will set up your rig as a DHCP _server_ so it won't do much good for you if you just need to get a client lease on RR. You'll need either dhcpcd or pump which are DHCP _clients_.
Yeah, try pump -i eth0, (furious blinking should start on cable modem) and after that pump -s to get your lease information. This assumes that the eth card is actually working, of course. Pump will renew an hour before expiration, hands-off.
