Cool Develop themes

Now i understand Linux, now i want to develop a theme and other usefull application, create skinn for XMMS or other themes, how can i develop such, btw i am a programmer and analyst ist already part of my life to create and create, i use to create lots of programm in MSWindows (sucks, em bored with it) can any one help me do some programs here. i know C and C++ but Perl and other i think i need to start to "HELLO WORLD" hahahahahah , please anyone

Look at the themes on, and You'll get a lot of ideas.
