Unhappy Delayed update for Arch distro and derivates

Hi guys,

rolling release, like Arch, Arco, Artix, Manjaro, etc. are great but if you want to make your own ISO e.g. to install the OS on ZFS-ROOT using `arch-iso` and `zfs` packages mostly didn't work.

The reason for that is that `arch-iso` and `zfs` are packaged and released even later than the `lts-kernel`.
That mean `arch-iso` and `zfs` are always older than the kernel because they come later out than the kernel same.

This is not only relevant for the building of own ISO but also crucial for the operation of OS after installation if you plane to use zfs-root.

My question is:
How can I postpone/delay the kernel update?
Or, how to let update the kernel according to actual `zfs-linux` and `zfs-linux-headers`?

Thanks in advance to everyone can contribute.

Frankly, I think you just need to make an informed decision when exaxtly you start to make your ISO, or use a chroot with a suitable kernel, or downgrade relevant packages for the duration of the ISO generation.
The archwiki probably has something to say on these topics.

@ondoho:

I tried already this, the `arch-iso` is for a certain kernel-version and the `zfs-linux` for a different one.
By the way, using `downgrade` for those packages is not only temporarily, you/I have to apply at least for the kernel the same on installed system otherwise become the OS unbootable because the newer kernel don't find relative `zfs-linnux`.

Besides, I don't ask intentionally how to make an `arch-iso` with older kernel or other packages but ask how to postpone all updates generally, let me say tree months!?

Only one package would be excluded from 3 months delay update and this is `zfs-linux`.

This "problem" cause unbootable OS not only in Arch-LTS and derivates but also in Ubuntu-LTS.

Easy enough.
Add it to /etc/pacman.conf:
Code:
IgnorePkg = zfs-linux
After 3 months, remove it again ...
