cups fonts

I am printing from a linux PC to a cups server on a linux server. I am using IPP protocol. The printer is a hp4100. I have extra otf fonts installed on the client PC and kword can use these on screen. If I use print preview another font is substituted.

Do I have to install the fonts on the server in /usr/share/cups/fonts?
On the client KDE print has an option for TT fonts to set a path which I have not done yet. Do I need to?

If it's a postscript printer then I think ghostscript generates a postscript file on the client computer using the fonts in /usr/share/ghostscript/fonts and sends the postscript file to the printer. I don't know about KDE at all. Linuxprinting.org might be worth a look

I am using the hpijs driver, perhaps not the best for a postscript printer. I followerd the linuxprinting link and found that HP do a ppd for postscript. Where do I put this ppd so that cups can use it?
