Heh, I have screenshots of this from the year I started uing Linux.
However, the guy in the video seems to be using some sort of graphical frontend. It's xsnow version 3.4, very different from the (legacy) version 1.42.

I found a old copy of "Snow for Windows" and installed it and it ran in both Xp-Service Pack-3 and Win7-pro (both in VirtualBox on my Slackware64 desktop with Xsnow running ).
I don't know if it would run in win10 or not. Probably not.
It's free, No need to buy it. Just click on "Download: Snow for windows.zip" BE CAREFUL. it works here, but it might screw up your machine so have a back up if you decide to install it. https://janswaal.home.xs4all.nl/WinSnow/

@frankbell,
At the URL provided by board member evo2, in message #11, above,
there is a note on building it with Slackware-14.2, under the download link.
I've been doing a little investigating of the freeze issue. Here's an update:
Yesterday, while xsnow was running on my Debian v. 11 laptop (It's a Clevo from Thinkpenguin), I started to play some movie I found lying around on my external drive with VLC. No issues.
On the Ubuntu MATE machine, I exited xsnow then started VLC and Dragon Player both with no issues. I then restarted xsnow and started both an *.mp4 and an *.avi file with no issues in Celluloid and Dragon Media Player. However, I was able to replicate the freeze with VLC with xsnow running.
Whatever is happening seems specific to VLC on the Ubuntu MATE machine (the computer is a Zareason Media Box desktop). The VLC version on that machine is 3.0.9.2. I haven't yet checked the VLC version on the Debian box. As an aside, the Debian box came with Gnome, but I'm using Plasma on it. The MATE machine also has Plasma installed, but I'm using Fluxbox as my interface.
I did an lshw on both machines, copied the files into the same directory, and will be looking at the output with meld or diff, but I haven't had a chance to wade through them yet.
Clearly, this is hardly a crucial issue, as I can still watch my videos, just not with VLC, but I'm going to keep poking at it, because I'm a curious snowman.
I forget myself an opened VLC while xsnow was running the other night, so I took a look at the logs (and, in the process, learned a bit more about using journalctl). I isolated the time of the freeze by finding the reboot. I could not see anything in the logs to explain the cause of the freeze (which does not surprise me, because, well, frozen), but, just in case someone can recognize something I missed, here are the last few events before the reboot and the first few events after it:
