Configuring Xorg for TV Out
I am trying to configure Xorg 6.8.1 for use on a Slackware -current system with an ATI Radeon 9200 Pro video card connected to a Sony KV-K29CF1 multi-system tv using an S-Video cable. I tried xorgcfg and `Xorg -configure` but since both of those methods require that you already have legible output to the monitor, I had to fall back to xorgconfig.
I have been able to get some configurations that are close to working (X launches, but the image on the screen has horizontal lines through it and is unusable), but I think the problem lies with the HorizSync and VertRefresh ranges I am using. Can someone tell me where I can find the values to use for these? I have looked through the TV's user's manual, but it isn't in there. I am assuming that not all TVs are alike, since if they were, the X.org folks would surely provide an option in the HorizSync and VertRefresh sections of xorgconfig's dialogs for "TV". (Right?)
I have been trying to configure for PAL-B/G, but since the TV supports NTSC4.43 and NTSC3.58, those would probably be options too.
