I currently have a Geforce3 Ti200 and a Geforce2 MX 100/200. I want to have two separate desktops running on both monitors at the same time. How would I configure my XF86Config file to accomplish this?
you want to have a read through the Xinerama howto to get a dual head system working. Xinerama itself is optional but it gives all the necessary groundwork for what you want. My config can be seen here http://thirtythreeandathird.net/dualhead
I found a howto for xinerama but when tried to scan for the PCI bus (# XFree86 -scanpci) I got the following error.
Fatal server error:
Server is already active for display 0
If this server is no longer running, remove /tmp/.X0-lock
and start again.
For one thing /tmp/.X0-lock does not exist. Does anyone know the solution?
K so i used su and signed on as root. Then I used telinit to switch too runlevel 3 and tried XFree86 -scanpci again. Nothing was printed out though. Does it get printed to some kind of log file?
