There seems to be some uncertainty on configure's end on picking up Boost library settings.
How did you install it?
Edit: just tried running the configure script myself on my machine (Slackware64 14.0 with boost installed and the boost serialization library in /usr/lib64/libboost_serialization.so) with the same result. Forcing the configure script to pick up my boost serialization library with
Code:
--with-boost-serialization=boost_serialization
made the configure go on and terminate, although complaining I don't have lapack and blas installed on my system (indeed true).
I guess the authors made some errors writing the macros for the configure script generation (in particular, m4/ax_boost_serialization.m4).
You could send them a bug report explaining your problem thoroughly.
