Hello people,
A few days ago I felt a sudden urge to be adventurous and bought my self an new modo with an AMD 64 bit athlon CPU. I installed ubuntu 6.10 on this baby (I have no experience with ubuntu by the way).
I am having some issues compiling a piece of software I need (dhcpcd-1.3.22, used for getting IP information from a DHCP server). This is the error I'm getting:
Code:
checking build system type... configure: error: cannot guess build type; you must specify one
I looked on the internet and I supposed that I should give an argument "--build=x86_64". This however didn't work. Doing "uname -r" gives me "x86_64"
I havn't tried compiling anything else yet, so I don't know if this happens more often. But, come the think of it, it might be a good idea to try.
I'm googling this problem on the web, but I'm getting the feeling that this will be a hard egg to crack. I anyone can help me, that would be great.
Cheers,
Sohail
