command-line mplayer: cursor goes AWOL

hi,

I use mplayer from command-line outside of X and when I use either the stock -vo fbdev and -vo vesa options after playing or when I quit, the cursor disappears, or turns invisible at least. I can still move along the command line, but I can't see in which position I am.

Also when my mouse pointer moves around the screen (which is blank, after having played the video) it starts to uncover all the text that mplayer outputs.

any opinions on what may be going on?
