Codec's....

How can I ensure I have the most recent (up to date) codec's for gxine...? I remember downloading some a while ago, but I don't remember the site I went to, or where I put them so they would be system-wide.... (I am pretty sure I put it in my /usr/local filesystem, but maybe it was my root filesystem... I try to keep all of my modifications and new stuff on /usr/local....) Thanks for any help... =)

What distro are you using? Typically you can find codecs at a multimedia type repository for your distro...
