Clearing USB SCSI Host Assignment #

I am working with embedded Linux under 2.4 Kernel. Is there a way to clear the host x number assignment.

eg
/dev/scsi/host0/bus0/target0/lun0: p1
/dev/scsi/host1/bus0/target0/lun0: p1

I need to be able to clear the host assignment number the kernel module has set so whenever the USB drive is plugged in I always get host0 or 1
The application I am doing could easily be powered up for months and USB drives plugged in over and over. If a different USB Drive is plugged in from the last another Host x number gets assigned and I can't mount the drive.

Thanks,

Brad Bas

I don't know if related but maybe removing the item under proc will do the removal like you need.

This script does similiar. rescan-scsi-bus.sh
