CIFS samba share

I am looking for a quick and dirty way to setup a CIFS share on my home private network.

The network is behind a smoothwall firewall to my NTL cable modem running off a 100Mbswitch.

I am trying to use samba, as I know it can do CIFS.
I dont care for security or user privilidges etc I just want anonymous/all write access to a share on the box.

Whats the quickest way of doin this? I've been tryin bits n pieces but it dont seem to wanna work. Should i stick with samba or use nfs...

help?

Ronan

First create an open share that can be used locally ok..
Some examples are on the LQ Wik at http://wiki.linuxquestions.org/wiki/Samba_Server

Then just forward tcp port 445 to the Samba server and watch the fireworks as you get scanned to death..

I'd recommend using an ssh tunnel within ssh port 22 that forwards 445.
eg ssh -L 445:127.0.0.1:445 destination

When the wide world finds the port open, which should take less than 2 minutes, you will get an ever increasing amount of virus scanning traffic until your ip number changes..
