Change file type icons

Hi, I use rosegarden, and I want to all the .rg and .rgp files to be shown with the rosegarden logo (that I already separated in a png file ready to use) so, I replace the image in one .rg, but it doesn't affect the others!

I don't want to be changing all the time the icon of the files, so

How can I do to make that all the .rg files appear with the image I've made?

Oh and there's other problem, when I try to open the .rg with selecting open with other program--- rosegarden it doesn't open
Why is this??? That's really really confusing

Thank you very much for helping!

P.S.: I use Gnome.

Have a look in your control centre for a File Associations section. That's where you would assign the image for the .rg extension.

Are you just typing rosegarden on it's own?
