Certain weird Fluxbox style problems

I just recently installed the latest Fluxbox -devel version and I have some problems with it. One of them is the font spacing (which is huge) when it uses Artwiz fonts, but I found a thread about that here on Linux questions which I'm going try out as soon as I get the chance:

ww*.linuxquestions.org/questions/showthread.php?s=&threadid=169237&highlight=font+spacing

If you have any extra hints/tips about the fonts, I would be glad to read it.

I couldn't find any threads about the second problem though. When I install a certain style (Nuevat3k Glacier) the background of the arrows disappears when i click on them (the arrows on the taskbar for switching desktops or windows). But when I pick another style and then switch back, I can click all I want without the backgrounds of the arrows disappearing (so the style works then). This happens each time I restart X, or pick Nuevat3k Glacier for the first time.

Maybe somebody else had the same problem or knows how this can be solved?

Mmmmm, yes, sounds weird....Maybe is a video card problem. Have you installed latest drivers for your video card?.
Did you install fluxbox from rmp? or from source? If from rpm, try out the source.

Hi, yes the drivers are all working, I have installed Nvidia and it works well. I use Arch Linux, so I use pacman to install. And the only problems fluxbox-devel has are the known bugs, like hanging when you exit from the menu. Other styles like "Plastic" work too.

The "universal" problem is the font spacing (so I don't think that has to do with it), and this is more a problem I have with that particular style. Tricky...

OK, so if only happens with Nueva3k Glacier (I use the same theme, with some modifications), edit the file and change the fontname to another one. Nueva3k uses quite big fonts, so switch to another font and see what happens.

Thnx for the tip I will try that, but could you show me how you did that? I have never configured such a thing myself and any extra info would be appriciated.

Btw, have you manged to solve the "Exit" thing, or do you use CTRL+ALT+BACKSPACE too?

You have to edit theme.conf with your favourite text editor (mine is vi). Then look for "menu.title.font:" and change it, actually you have to change everything that has font in it (in that case is the menu, but there's as well for the tool bar and windows).

Whats going on with "Exit"?? For me works perfectly.
