CD Packet Writing Software

Is there any linux software to enable a CDRW disc to be formatted in partitions/packets to enable data to be read/written easily. Just like a floppy disk. In Microsoft, I used a program called InCD. I guess there is comparable software in Linux?

For info I can read cd's written by directcd under windoze by mounting them thus

mount -t udf /dev/cdrom /cdrom

udf must be compiled into kernel or available as a module.
I would also be interested in a way of writing to these cd's
maybe in the 2.6 kernels when they are ready

Yeah, not yet is the answer I got not too long ago on this. Not yet.

Would be nice though, sometimes anyway, for example (which was my question), if you got a DVD R drive, you'd have ~4GB of data available to be written to that disc. With something like packet writing you could use it just like another HD.

Let's hope things start spinning on this somewhere, I'd keep my eyes on SourceForge and Freshmeat for info on it.

Cool

Check that thread for how I got packet writing to finally work, if you haven't yet
