Cannot uninstall rpm

Hello,

I installed a package via rpm, and then realized that the package was not the one I wanted. Upon trying to uninstall, I was told that the package was not installed, which it is. Here's what I mean:

Code:
-bash-3.00# rpm -i munin-1.2.5-1.os102.rpm
        package munin-1.2.5-1 is already installed
-bash-3.00# rpm -e munin-1.2.5-1.os102.rpm
error: package munin-1.2.5-1.os102.rpm is not installed
Does anyone have any suggestions for how to uninstall this?

Thanks

Can't you just go into yast and deselect it?

To uninstall the package, you don't want the .rpm extension.

Code:
rpm -e munin-1.2.5-1.os102
What distro are you using? Please put this in your profile. It makes it easier for us to help you.

I tried uninstalling it without the .rpm and got the same response.

I'm using CentOS 4 by the way (sorry, forgot to include that).

Thanks

Try
Code:
rpm -qa | grep munin
to find the name of the actual package that is installed. Then remove it using "rpm -e"

I suspect you rpm database has gotten corrupted(it happens and nobody knows why).Try(as root): rpm --rebuilddb

That may or may not clear up the issue, but it is one more possible problem eliminated. You will have to remove the rpm(the one you wanted removed) after the db is rebuilt.

Good Luck

Turns out the package was called munin-1.2.5-1, not munin-1.2.5-1.os102. IBall, you were right on.

Thanks all for the help.

You could have just done
Code:
#rpm -e munin
No need to use the version numbers, just the name of the package.
