cannot run my xmms

dear linux's community,
I want to have my own mp3's player on linux.I've already download Xmms package 1.2.10-1.i386.rpm into my red hat 9.0 linux OS.After running d command :
# rpm -ivh xmms-1.2.10-1.i386.rpm
It shows all the package inside.
But I still cannot use my mp3.Is there any simple way for me as a new beginner to enjoy my linux?

Really appreciate for your concern.TQ

mp3 support isn't included in all the major distros due to legal issues. But why do you use such an old distro? Red hat's alternative for the desktop is Fedora Core 4 (5 is coming out soon)
but if you still want to use Red hat 9.0 for your own reasons
then you need the rpm package named
mpg123

that's the plugin xmms uses to play mp3 files
